The Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati kicks off a new exhibit this week ‘DESIGN MAKE DISPLAY’. The exhibit presents a collection of architectural models that looks at the various roles models play in the design of buildings. On October 11th from 11:30am to 1:00pm the AFC will host a Gallery Talk about the exhibit with architect Andreas Lange of BHDP and designer Paul Karalambo of FRCH Design Worldwide. Please join us and learn about the art of making models in the 21st Century!
About the Exhibit:
DESIGN MAKE DISPLAY hopes to show how the architectural model is an art form in its own right, one that continues to be a critical method of representation in architectural design. The models of this exhibit, selected from a public call for works, include examples of traditional hand-built models, as well as models that incorporate contemporary digital technologies. These models represent the work of architects and designers from all over the world, with submissions coming from as close as Louisville and as far as Singapore.
Architectural design is now at an interesting intersection of digital and physical means of model making. Many designers have stopped using traditional physical models of wood, paper, and glue, opting instead for digital means of representation. These new technologies offer different ways of thinking and previously unimaginable results.
