The Scavenger Hunt Prizes have arrived! Just in time too, the Rookwood Pottery Co. Tour and Reception is coming up this Thursday evening. The deadline for submissions is noon on Thursday, October 10th. It looks like we will have some beautiful October days which are perfect for being outside and capturing some fine shots. The clues are online in our Clue Gallery and there is a printable available for download with a click on this link: The Rookwood Photo Scavenger Hunt Guide.
Guests at this free event have the opportunity to experience expertly guided behind the scenes tours of Rookwood’s actual working processes. There will be free food and drinks including beer and wine for all the attendees and we will be awarding the prizes to the Rookwood Photo Scavenger Hunt winners! And as a special ‘Thank You’ all the guests will take home a piece of Rookwood for themselves, the appropriately titled piece – ‘The Potter at the Wheel’.

ArchiNATI is a big fan of facades to say the least. If you don’t believe us, two of the names for the festival that (thankfully) fell by the wayside were the ‘Cincinnati Facade Fest’ and the surprisingly popular ‘Edifice Fest’. We are very happy to be contributing TO a new effort in Walnut Hills to rehabilitate facades in the area. ArchiNATI and the Brew House are getting together to host a design charette to enhance the Brew House facade. You are invited to join us at the Brew House, Saturday October 5th from 3:30 to 6:30pm to design, draw and have a drink.

Information about the program From the Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation:
Facade Improvement Program
Program Goal and Description
The Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation is establishing a Façade Improvement Program to help strengthen the revitalization of the Walnut Hills Business District (the targeted area). The Program will serve as a pilot program for the revitalization effort of storefronts in Walnut Hills, with plans to expand the program afterwards. The Program will offer grant funds to property and business owners to be matched by their equal or greater investment of private funds for the purpose of restoring/renovating commercial storefronts and replacing deteriorated or poor quality commercial signs and awnings. A Program Committee will evaluate applications to determine eligibility and, based on a set of criteria (listed below), make grant awards to those proposed projects that are determined will have the greatest impact on enhancing the targeted area.
Specific Objectives in Targeted Area
Enhance the appearance of the current storefront facades
Reduce vacancies in storefronts and upper floors
Expand worker, resident, and shopper populations in the Business District
Strengthen or restore the original character of historic buildings
Provide a catalyst for others to improve their buildings, signs, and awnings
